TAP is Africa’s first social enterprise transforming how society understands appearance, identity, and psychosocial well-being.
We support people living with visible differences, skin conditions, scars, burns, and appearance-related distress; not by trying to “fix” how they look, but by confronting the stigma, shame, and systemic barriers that restrict their lives.
Through digital care, research, community action, and cultural storytelling, TAP is building a future where:

About the Founder
Ogo Maduewesi is a Nigerian social innovator, psychosocial advocate, and the visionary behind The Appearance Positive Movement (TAP). She has spent over 15 years building the ecosystem for appearance dignity across Sub-Saharan Africa.
As the Founder of VITSAF — Africa’s first vitiligo patient-driven organisation — she helped shape global awareness efforts, including World Vitiligo Day. She also served as a founding Director of the International Alliance of Dermatology Patient Organisations (GlobalSkin).
Living with vitiligo and other visible differences herself, Ogo transforms lived experience into systems change, blending digital innovation, cultural storytelling, and community healing.
She is an Ashoka Fellow, and a leading voice on appearance justice, identity, and psychosocial well-being in Africa.
